June 13th & 14th

Road Trip to Anchorage
June 14th
This morning we took off for Anchorage on the Alaskan Highway in the Yukon Territory, and lets say, it was a little bumpy and rocky in places. About an hour into the drive we experienced a rock hitting the windshield, it hard enough that the glass came loose on the inside of the RV.
Mango (the Jeep) also had a rough ride, it’s has one less functioning headlight (it too has a cracked windshield…but from the other day). Once we got into Alaska the roads were better (in spots)…thank goodness, I felt like we were riding the Mine Train roller coaster.

The ride was long, but well worth the journey when we came across the Matanuska Glacier.

Today was strictly a travel day, it will take about 15 hours drive time to Anchorage because of the road conditions.

Road out from Skagway…11 miles up, up, and more up!

Lake Kuane – absolutely gorgeous…huge…we drove miles and miles around it!

About eight hours later, we stopped and camped along side of the road between two mountain ranges, a small creek, and an open field. Our evening hopes were to view some wildlife, moose, bear, etc. No such luck.
